The crisis in journalism has become a crisis for our democracy.

We are calling on a new generation of journalists to serve in community news organizations across the country.

It is time to Report for America

Report for America is a new model to strengthen communities through great local journalism.

We place talented emerging journalists into local newsrooms to report on under-covered communities and issues. We are looking for reporters with great skills, character and commitment to public service journalism.  And we seek news organizations ready to deploy these journalists to dramatically improve local coverage and the public trust of the news media.

Want to help save democracy?

Join the Movement

RFA corps members will report in local newsrooms across America, including newspaper, radio, TV and digital outlets. If you want to answer a call of public service by reporting in a local community in America, join RFA and become a corps member.

If your newsroom wants to join the RFA movement, sign up here. As an RFA newsroom, you may host between one and five reporters for a year at a time, covering stories and beats, important to your community and that would otherwise go uncovered.

If you would like to support Report for America, please do now or let us know. We are looking to add to an already prominent list of foundations, academic institutions and individuals who will come together to make this ambitious national initiative possible. RFA is an initiative of The GroundTruth Project.
