Maria Eberhart

Maria Eberhart covers Maryland’s rural-urban digital divide for Technical.ly. Before joining Report for America, Eberhart worked as an editorial assistant at Pitchfork, handling administrative responsibilities alongside pitching album reviews. She also previously interned at the Baltimore Sun, where she covered breaking news and wrote feature stories about Charm City’s art scene. Eberhart graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2023.

Sean Scott

Sean Scott is the incoming religion, politics and society reporter for The Maine Monitor. Before joining The Monitor staff, Scott served as the founding editor for the Oxford Free Press, a nonprofit print and digital newsroom which launched in Ohio in June 2024. He began his journalism career at The Miami Student, Miami University's student newspaper, while studying journalism and urban and regional planning. He wrote about everything from local elections to faculty unionization and served as editor-in-chief in his senior year. His work for The Student and the Free Press has earned local, statewide and regional awards, as well as a national award for campus reporting. While in college, Scott also held internships with The Cincinnati Enquirer and the Journal-News in Hamilton, Ohio. Scott spends much of his free time with his two cats, Ghost and Nymeria.

Lucy Tompkins

Prior to joining Seven Days, Tompkins reported on housing issues as a freelance reporter in New York City, and for the Texas Tribune. She worked for The New York Times as a national reporting fellow and later on their Headway team. Before that, she spent two years in Berlin on a Fulbright fellowship, where she studied international asylum policy and interviewed Syrian migrants about their experiences in Germany. She started her career as an education reporter at The Missoulian, where she led an investigation into private residential treatment programs for teenagers that led to changes in state law and the closure of many of the programs. She speaks Spanish and holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Montana.

A 135-year-old business owned by one family, the Bangor Daily News increasingly serves the entire state of Maine with an earlier shift to digital than most midsize papers. This news organization prizes strong journalism that serves readers and connects communities.

Central Current

Central Current is a nonprofit, nonpartisan newspaper for Central New York. It provides fact-based news and analysis about the challenges, solutions and opportunities in the region. It's goal is to foster civic engagement and democratic governance, and to help build a more prosperous and healthy community.

Chestnut Hill Local

The Chestnut Hill Local (CHL) is a 66-year-old community weekly newspaper and online news site that was named Pennsylvania’s best weekly publication in 2023 and 2024 by the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association. Though initially created to serve the residents of Chestnut Hill, the Local’s scope has expanded to serve Northwest Philadelphia. It provides relevant, consistent and important information across platforms and strategic initiatives including community engagement activities, collaborations, award-winning journalism, geographically-specific digital content, newsletters and a print newspaper.

Connecticut Public

Connecticut Public is Connecticut’s only state-wide, community-supported public media service. We’re a member station of NPR and PBS. We produce several daily radio newscasts and talk shows. We feature news online at ctpublic.org. We are a nonprofit newsroom with high standards and high expectations. We want to be a place where journalists can produce work that is relevant, impactful, meaningful and memorable.
