WUSF Public Media

WUSF Public Media is committed to providing accurate, honest journalism that helps listeners understand the community and the world. WUSF is a service of the University of South Florida, providing news and music on two radio stations, seven websites and on social media. Since 1976, it’s been the flagship NPR affiliate, and covers 13 counties in west central Florida, including the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland and Sarasota.

The Current

The Current is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization founded in 2020 to provide free in-depth watchdog journalism for Savannah and other coastal Georgia areas. This news organization holds the powerful to account, illuminates public threats and helps build a more engaged society built on trustworthy facts. Its governing board consists of local business and community leaders committed to solving inequality and improving lives.

Athens Banner-Herald

Athens Banner-Herald, the only daily paper in the region, and OnlineAthens are the primary news source for the area, which includes five counties and the University of Georgia community. This news organization, owned by Gannett, regularly covers education, city government, crime, sports, culture and breaking news.

WKRG News 5

WKRG is the CBS affiliate serving Mobile and Pensacola and rural areas beyond—it covers two counties in Mississippi, south Alabama and northwest Florida.

Bowling Green Daily News

The Bowling Green Daily News, a news site and the area's only daily paper, is the main news source in south central Kentucky. The primary coverage area is the city of Bowling Green and Warren County. Founded in 1884, The Daily News remains a family-owned business with a mission to provide comprehensive and contextual news coverage.

Centro de Periodismo Investigativo

The Centro de Periodismo Investigativo is a nonprofit that produces in-depth investigative journalism, published in both Spanish and English, and distributes its content free of charge to readers and media outlets in Puerto Rico and abroad. The CPI has won recognition producing stories on corruption, cronyism in government, electoral campaigns, and public policy in health, education, the economy and the environment. Its work has proven to be crucial and in some instances pivotal in bringing about social change, accountability, recovery and justice.

Daily Memphian

The Daily Memphian is the largest, nonprofit daily news site in the country that covers all local news, including sports, things to do and dining. It reports critical news, holds political, business and community leaders accountable, and engages with and entertains readers.

Enlace Latino NC

Enlace Latino NC is a nonprofit digital news organization. Its mission is to empower the diverse community of Latino immigrants in North Carolina to become more involved in the political and social changes that affect them, by publishing independent, nonpartisan, public service journalism in Spanish.

Georgia Public Broadcasting

Georgia Public Broadcasting's mission is to create high quality programs and services that educate, inform and entertain audiences. GPB TV, Radio and Digital cover all of Georgia and adjacent counties in surrounding states. Operating across all platforms, GPB News is the local host for PBS and NPR news and produces stories of regional importance from its hubs in Atlanta, Macon and Savannah. With a combined broadcast and digital audience of over 4 million, GPB News is also developing a growing presence on social media.

Institute for Public Service Reporting at the University of Memphis

The Institute for Public Service Reporting is a nonprofit newsroom on the campus of the University of Memphis specializing in investigative reporting and in-depth explanatory journalism—an arm of the university with a firewall protecting their editorial independence. Its mission is to provide robust, civic-minded journalism that promotes a vibrant democracy, fosters inclusiveness and enriches the lives of the people of greater Memphis, including many underserved communities. Stories appear on its news site, and on The Daily Memphian, a nonprofit news site.
