Prince of Wales Island, Alaska, only sees about five hours of daylight in midwinter. Corps member Hunter Morrison’s piece about residents of this small rural community coming together over a shared hobby during the dark, cold winter months resonated with Alaskans and aired across the state.

While much other armwrestling takes place in bars, this group, reportedly the first of its kind in Alaska, embraces sobriety, providing a healthy alternative in an area with high rates of alcoholism and substance abuse.
