Beat: Health and poverty
With the changing landscape in the aftermath of Roe v. Wade being tossed, this reporter focuses on coverage of health and family issues, such the number of foster children needing homes; an increase in the birth of children in poor and single-mother families; and demands on the welfare system. The Arkansas Legislature is inclined to reduce assistance to the needy, so coverage of nonprofit agencies providing help is also part of the beat.
