Sun Herald

The Sun Herald is a local news organization that produces a website, a newspaper and top-notch social media engagement. We may be small in numbers, but we're big on accountability and visual journalism that makes a difference. We've been serving our community for over 130 years and pride ourselves on investigative stories that no one else here will touch. We consistently win numerous state journalism awards and have been awarded McClatchy's highest journalism honor for four of the last five years.

Long Beach Post

Long Beach Post is a daily, digital publication covering news, life, business, placemaking, food, sports, LGBT issues and more in the city of Long Beach, California. We became the largest newsroom in the city last summer when a handful of journalists from the city's legacy newspaper resigned amid an onslaught of layoffs and cutbacks at their publication and joined the Post.

The Oaklandside/Berkeleyside

Berkeleyside is a 10-year-old city news site that provides granular coverage of Berkeley, CA, a high-profile city in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our strength is in breaking news and in digging in deep on important issues of accountability. We have been successful in creating a loyal and highly engaged community of readers, and are seen as a model for digital local news nationally. We have recently converted to nonprofit status in order to create mission-driven newsrooms in more cities. Our first launch, in spring 2020, is in neighboring Oakland, a city of 420,000 in the throes of transformation.

The Sacramento Bee

The Sacramento Bee is the only daily newspaper covering California’s capital city. At 161 years old, the news organization is McClatchy’s flagship. The newspaper’s coverage area extends along the I-80 corridor from Lake Tahoe to the East and up to but not necessarily including the Bay Area. The newspaper covers northern California regularly as well as Stockton. In Sacramento, readers expect The Sacramento Bee to hold elected officials at the statehouse to account, and they rely on the newspaper for deep environmental coverage in addition to local government and growth.
