The Haitian Times was founded in 1999 as a weekly English-language paper based in Brooklyn, New York. Since 2012, it has morphed into an online-only publication broadening its audience to include Haitians from all over the world. Readers are opinion-makers and decision-makers in their communities. The Haitian Times is widely regarded as the most authoritative voice for the Haitian Diaspora.

Traverse City Record-Eagle

The Traverse City Record-Eagle is northern Michigan's largest news outlet, operating print and digital publications, including a daily print edition, a quarterly magazine and two podcasts. The Record-Eagle has a strong history of strong watchdog reporting complemented by artful narrative writing. Our newsroom is situated in downtown Traverse City, but serves a five-county core coverage area as well as broad, growing sections of news desert in northern Michigan.  

Technical.ly

Technical.ly is a major part of narrating economic change for the communities we serve. We’re interested in second and third tier regional economies. We’ve reported on each of our communities for five or more years, the longest being Philadelphia for a decade. Our reporters are trained to be deeply ingrained in the communities we serve, while also holding perspective from around other local economies. We are read by serious technologists, experienced entrepreneurs and economic development leaders who allocate resources among constituencies.

KERA / The Texas Newsroom

NPR and Texas public radio stations collaborated to form the Texas News Hub. It’s the first step in a systemwide collaborative project to create a nationwide virtual public radio newsroom of 1,000-plus journalists. The collaboration includes two daily, hour-long statewide programs (Texas Standard and Think) and will soon include six daily statewide newscasts, and a statewide digital news desk. The Hub is working to hire and train freelance and small station reporters to provide news service to underserved communities in the state’s news deserts.

Northeast Ohio Solutions Journalism Collaborative

We’re a team of Greater Cleveland news outlets passionate about news and information, amplifying the voices of those often unheard, and changing the narrative about our communities. With 22 partner newsrooms, reporters and community organizations embedded in nearly every corner of Northeast Ohio from Akron to Cleveland’s Buckeye-Woodland neighborhoods, NEO SOJO (Northeast Ohio Solutions Journalism) is dedicated to targeting one issue in 2020 — how the COVID-19 crisis is impacting communities — and spotlighting solutions. We want to tell stories that lift up ways to solve issues that plague our communities and change the conversation about what’s possible in Northeast Ohio.

The News & Observer

The News & Observer’s roots go back to 1865, when its predecessor The Sentinel was launched to expose corruption in the Reconstruction era. Among the News & Observer’s many awards are three Pulitzer Prizes, including the 1996 gold medal for public service. The News & Observer is the paper of record in the capital city of North Carolina, covering the statehouse, the legislature and its impact on the lives of all North Carolinians. The newspaper’s mission is to produce fearless and independent public service journalism that gives a voice to underrepresented, unheard groups and communities.

Long Beach Post

Long Beach Post is a daily, digital publication covering news, life, business, placemaking, food, sports, LGBT issues and more in the city of Long Beach, California. We became the largest newsroom in the city last summer when a handful of journalists from the city's legacy newspaper resigned amid an onslaught of layoffs and cutbacks at their publication and joined the Post.

Athens Banner-Herald

Athens Banner-Herald is an under 20,000 circulation newspaper in Athens, Georgia, owned by Gannett. The newspaper traces its history to the Southern Banner newspaper that first published on March 20, 1832. In 1921, the newspaper merged with the Athens Herald to become the Athens Banner-Herald.

Centro de Periodismo Investigativo

The Centro de Periodismo Investigativo is a 501c3 non-profit that investigates and distributes its content free of charge, directly to readers and mass media outlets in Puerto Rico and abroad. Founded in 2007 by journalists, the CPI produces quality in-depth journalism free of political and commercial ties through its website and media allies. In recent years, the CPI has been at the forefront in chronicling major news on the island, from a decade-long economic crisis and five years of bankruptcy to the trauma of two catastrophic hurricanes. In 2019, it published a leaked chat that exposed the corruption of former Gov. Ricardo Rosello and his administration, which culminated in massive street protests that led to his resignation from office.
