Lookout Eugene-Springfield launches in early 2025, the second community news site of Lookout Local. Lookout Eugene-Springfield is modeled on the highly successful, Pulitzer Prize-winning Lookout Santa Cruz site. When launched — with about 15 in the newsroom and 20 overall –it will serve as the largest and best newsroom in Oregon’s second-largest metro area. Lookout doesn’t complain about hedge fund ownership; we replace it with high-quality, trustworthy, non-partisan news and information broadly covered all aspects of diverse communities. We’re looking for skilled, experienced professionals eager and able to build the next generation of local news, working out of our in-person, open-to-the-community downtown office.

Beat: Photojournalist: Leading our visual news work covering the people and issues of Lane County

Position:

It is a dream job for any diehard photojournalist. Shoot photos for a variety of assignments, from food and sports, to portraits and breaking news. Be prepared to shoot a lot, between 3-5 assignments a day. You’ll also have the opportunity to pitch your own stories and long-term photo and video projects. Drive around the region and shoot, process, write cutlines, upload to a gallery for the editors to view all on the same day.

This position is in partnership with CatchLight. The corps member will be a CatchLight Local Fellow and along with the host newsroom, be supported by the CatchLight Local Visual Desk.

Salary and Benefits:
$55,000-$65,000

Above-average medical, dental, optical insurance. 2% match for 401k program, office parking half-paid.
