Mirror Indy

Mirror Indy is the first nonprofit newsroom of Free Press Indiana, launched in December 2023, with coverage focused on community, accountability, service, and arts and culture. Our neighborhood-based reporting aims to elevate stories that too often go untold and empower residents with the local news and information they need to shape our city for the better. Mirror Indy’s readers consume our content in daily email newsletters, website, social media channels and a free texting service.

Beat: Community Photojournalist

Position:

The community visual journalist produces photos and video to accompany written stories across a range of beats – neighborhoods, arts and culture, education, city government, health and housing – and tell stories independently as well. The candidate must be trained in journalism ethics, still photojournalism and video production basics. The fellow works with the art director to consider what medium and publishing platform works best for each story in order to carry out Mirror Indy's mission.

This position is in partnership with CatchLight. The corps member will be a CatchLight Local Fellow and along with the host newsroom, be supported by the CatchLight Local Visual Desk.

Salary and Benefits:
$60,000 to $65,000
