The Daily Memphian is the largest, nonprofit daily news site in the country that covers all local news, including sports, things to do and dining. It reports critical news, holds political, business and community leaders accountable, and engages with and entertains readers.

A nonprofit, nonpartisan investigative newsroom, inewsource is a dedicated to improving lives in the San Diego region and beyond through data-based investigative and accountability journalism.

New Haven Independent

The New Haven Independent is a nonprofit news site, and features reporting on New Haven neighborhoods, government, politics, criminal justice, schools, business, arts and culture. It is produced in conjunction with the Online Journalism Project, a nonprofit effort to promote stand-alone and hyperlocal news sites.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette

The Cedar Rapids Gazette, founded in 1884, is the second largest paper in the state. This employee-owned media organization also has a news site, launched Iowa Ideas as an annual conference that looks at issues facing state's future, and works to make the community and region stronger. It has earned the Iowa Newspaper Association award for innovation for four consecutive years.

The Washington Informer

The Washington Informer is a multimedia news organization, founded in 1964, and offering coverage of positive news about the African American community in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The Informer reaches more than 50,000 readers through its print and digital channel, including its award winning website; 7,500 subscribers to its daily email newsletter, and thousands of social media followers and fans.

Yakima Herald-Republic

The Yakima Herald-Republic, a daily paper and news site, is the largest media outlet in the Yakima Valley, and dedicated to serving central Washington with breaking news and in-depth coverage. El Sol de Yakima, a Spanish-language website and weekly paper, is part of the Herald-Republic newsroom, and the two publications cross-publish stories. Yakima Magazine, a monthly, is also part of this news organization.

WKRG News 5

WKRG is the CBS affiliate serving Mobile and Pensacola and rural areas beyond—it covers two counties in Mississippi, south Alabama and northwest Florida.

Asheville Watchdog

Asheville Watchdog, an online investigative news organization, is independent, nonpartisan, and nonprofit, serving Asheville and nearby communities in western North Carolina. Its mission is to inform and engage through rigorously reported and clearly presented stories.

Dallas Free Press

Dallas Free Press, a nonprofit news site, launched in January 2020 with the mission of amplifying voices and exploring solutions to the city's systemic inequities. It focuses community journalism efforts on three zip codes in South Dallas and West Dallas, which are predominantly Black and Latino neighborhoods, respectively.
