Report for America Recently Selected for the 2026 New York Times Campaign for Journalism

We are honored to announce that Report for America was recently selected as a first-time participant in the 2026 New York Times employee giving program, the Campaign for Journalism.

The Times launched the Campaign for Journalism in 2022 to support organizations working to strengthen journalism. From Sept. 22 through Oct. 9, The Times invited employees to support Report for America and two other journalism-support organizations and matched their gifts. In addition to the match, The Times made its own generous contribution to all three organizations, including Report for America.

Since 2018, Report for America has supported 827 corps members and 489 newsrooms nationwide, helping communities get the local news they need to stay informed and connected. This growth is in large part due to individuals who give in support of the long-term sustainability of local news.

“We have been so humbled and gratified to see donations from NYT reporters, editors and many other staffers pouring in for Report for America,” said Kim Kleman, Report for America’s executive director. “Thanks to their support, we will be able to send corps members to more communities desperate for better local coverage.”

Employees across The Times chose to invest in local journalism in communities across the country, many far from their own. Their support reflects something at the heart of our work: strong local news matters to all of us, no matter where we live or what role we play in getting the news to readers.

We’re grateful to The New York Times and its employees for including us in this campaign, and we’re proud to stand alongside them in support of journalism.
