El Perico/The Reader

The Reader (parent company Pioneer Publishing) is the original alternative news monthly in Omaha, NE, founded in 1994. It is known for its watchdog journalism and covering news the mainstream media misses. The print paper has citywide distribution and a robust digital site. With an exceptionally diverse audience, its readers are most defined by their high levels of engagement in the community (from voting to going out). El Perico is the original bilingual community weekly founded in 1999, serving Omaha's booming Latino community, becoming part of Pioneer Publishing in 2004 and going monthly in 2020.

Houston Public Media

News 88.7 covers the Houston metro region, the nation's sixth largest radio market. Our newsroom slogan is "Stronger, More Engaging News Content" and our goal is: "Our audience will identify News 88.7 as a friendly place where smart people work hard to tell them about serious issues in a way not available from other media. Our content will reflect the unique sound, texture and character of the Houston region." In the last several years, our broadcast news has become much more closely aligned with the sound and pacing of NPR newscasts and the shows "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered". We have roughly 400,000 weekly radio listeners, 70,000 streaming, and our webpage gets about 400,000 views a month.

WFAE is the NPR station serving a 32-county listening area in the Charlotte region. Our mission is to produce journalism that informs, enriches and inspires. For 32 years, people across the Carolinas have relied on WFAE to offer comprehensive and in-depth reporting on the topics they need to understand, whether of local, national, or international importance. Acclaimed NPR programs and our local show, Charlotte Talks, continue to be cornerstones of our trusted on-air brand. Our increasingly diverse community consumes content through our broadcast signals, online at WFAE.org, through smart speakers, newsletters, podcasts and social media. Stories produced by our staff often air on NPR stations across the country as well as on BBC news.
