Beat: Business trends and legislative coverage
Position: This reporter covers Bismarck/Mandan business, economic development, local and statewide housing issues, industry news and travel/tourism. The reporter also assists with biennial coverage of the state Legislature with a focus on economic policy and regulation. Workload will be about 70 percent business and 30 percent government. This reporter writes a mix of daily and enterprise stories about these topic areas. This reporter works in our Bismarck bureau, which is housed at the State Capitol and also includes our state government reporter and our Report for America rural issues reporter. The director of news operations works with this reporter to determine regular coverage and to craft enterprise plans. A team of three Forum News Service editors lead the editing process. Because our company headquarters is in Fargo, an editor travels to visit these reporters regularly, and they make occasional trips to Fargo as well.
