Alejandro Figueroa

Alejandro Figueroa reports for WYSO, the NPR affiliate station in Dayton, Ohio. He covers food insecurity in southwest Ohio, particularly the efforts by local organizations and government agencies to address a problem that has increased dramatically since the pandemic started. Figueroa was born in a small coastal town in Puerto Rico and in 2014 he and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio. He is a 2021 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, and while there he reported for The New Political, a student-run publication focused on politics and government. Figueroa covered news at the campus and city level, with a special interest in city government and the coal industry in southeast Ohio. As an intern for Ohio Magazine, he reported on great travel destinations in the state.

Dustin Bleizeffer

Dustin Bleizeffer covers the energy beat for WyoFile, a nonprofit public-interest news website based in Lander, Wyoming that reports on the state's people, places, and policies. Bleizeffer has worked as a coal miner, an oilfield mechanic, a reporter and editor primarily covering Wyoming's energy industry, and a freelancer writing about the environment and rural life. Most recently he co-authored the “Reckoning in Coal Country” investigative series, published on WyoFile, the Energy News Network site, and as a book. Bleizeffer was communications director of the Wyoming Outdoor Council, and beginning in 2010, he served as WyoFile's editor-in-chief for six years. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and communications from the University of Wyoming, and as a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, he examined how emerging technology can help reinvigorate news and democracy in the American West. Bleizeffer lives in Casper, Wyoming.

Nora Grace-Flood

Nora Grace-Flood reports on government accountability, public policy and neighborhoods in Hamden, Connecticut for the New Haven Independent, a nonprofit, public-interest news organization based in New Haven, Connecticut. Before becoming a Report for America corps team member, Grace-Flood interned with the New Haven Independent and its partner publication, the Valley Independent Sentinel, reporting on a variety of stories. She graduated from Bard College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and public health in 2021, and studied journalism and interned as an editorial assistant at PEN America, a nonprofit that works to protect free expression in the U.S. and worldwide, as part of the Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program in New York City. Nora lives in New Haven, CT.

Erin Glynn

Erin Glynn reports for The Cincinnati Enquirer, focusing on government accountability in three suburban counties. Before coming to The Enquirer, Glynn covered city government and business for the Manistee News Advocate in Michigan. This former news editor of The Miami Student, the student-run paper at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, studied Mandarin Chinese at Beijing University as part of a study-abroad program, and reported on the expatriate experience in Beijing. When she returned to Ohio, Glynn interned for The Enquirer, and also did an internship at Women of Cincy, a nonprofit that's focused on uplifting women through storytelling. Glynn graduated from Miami in 2020 with degrees in journalism and global politics.

Olivia Sun

Olivia Sun is a photojournalist with the Colorado Sun in Denver, covering statewide politics, education and the environment. Before this, she spent two years in her home state at the Des Moines Register photographing daily news, focusing on economic disparities, investigations and coronavirus coverage. Sun holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa, and while studying journalism and film she interned at The Chautauquan Daily in western New York, the China Daily in Beijing, and NPR's science desk in Washington, D.C. Sun's coverage of the 2020 caucus season has appeared in Liberation, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Associated Press, The Washington Post and more.

Oklahoma Watch

Oklahoma Watch is a statewide investigative news organization created in late 2010. Our staple is in-depth, data-driven stories and we distribute our content to about 100 news outlets around the state for republication for free. Increasingly we are developing multimedia content with video, stills and interactive tables or data visualizations. We also hold public forums on critical issues and we bring on college interns in journalism and public relations to dig into the severe human-needs problems that afflict our state.

Rappahannock News & Foothills Forum

News desert? Check. The weekly News is the lone legitimate mainstream print/online outlet. The Rappahannock News has served the 7,300 residents of rural Rappahannock County, Va., since 1949. Its parent company is owned by a group of community investors.

Las Vegas Review-Journal

The Las Vegas Review-Journal is the dominant news organization in Southern Nevada. We cover the state of Nevada as well as major news in eastern California, southern Utah and northwest Arizona. Our mission is to tell the most important stories in Las Vegas, to hold institutions and leaders accountable, and to fight for the public's right to know.  

VTDigger.org

VTDigger is a nonprofit daily news organization dedicated to watchdog reporting on Vermont institutions, businesses and government. Its mission is to produce rigorous journalism that explains issues, holds government officials and entities accountable and engages Vermonters in democratic processes. The staff produces in-depth stories on health care, politics, business, criminal justice, the environment and education.  

The Kansas City Beacon

The Kansas City Beacon is a non-profit online news outlet focused on in-depth journalism in the public interest. It launched in March 2020 and is part of The Beacon, a regional nonprofit news network serving Kansas and Missouri. Beacon stories are revelatory, contextual, data-driven and solutions-driven. Our reporting centers around issues in healthcare, education, economics, environment and civic engagement.
