Daily Independent

Independent Newsmedia is a unique publishing and printing company that supports every American’s First Amendment rights and encourages and assists citizens in exercising those rights responsibly. We operate 21 newspapers in the Phoenix-area market and a website with more the 2.8 million annual users. We pursue this mission by publishing community newspapers, by providing printing services to other publishers, and by creating citizen-driven community websites for the 21st Century and beyond. Our unique structure is designed to maintain our independence. We pay taxes like any other company, but there are no shareholders, no dividends are paid, and all after-tax profits are reinvested in serving our mission. We are held in sacred trust by a rotating group of five trustees who believe in our mission and are pledged not to benefit personally from their involvement.

Minnesota Star Tribune

With more than 230 journalists, the Minnesota Star Tribune is the largest newsroom in the Midwest and a trusted local news organization nationwide. Th Star Tribune earned this trust through Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting and a deep commitment to accuracy and fairness. In 2024, the Star Tribune rebranded as The Minnesota Star Tribune, reflecting its investment as a statewide news organization.

Austin Free Press

Austin Free Press is a non-profit, digital news platform, who seeks input from community members to guide content. Before publishing we partnered with our local historically Black university, Huston-Tillotson, to train underrepresented students as journalists and to write for AFP. Our goal is to increase accuracy in news reporting by centering our coverage on underserved communities and issues, and promote civil dialogue to empower all Austinites to make more informed decisions about our community.

WXXI News

WXXI News is part of WXXI Public Media, a resource that strengthens our community by bringing highly valued media services on platforms that serve residents' needs. As an NPR member station, we offer around-the-clock on-air news, with numerous local cut-ins that provide both spot and enterprise reports. We offer two hours of live public affairs discussions each day on our talk show. We also have a daily news podcast and a monthly arts-focused magazine.

Grice Connect

Grice Connect is a proudly independent, locally owned news organization dedicated to strengthening and connecting our community. We provide local news, events, sports, obits, and more to residents, businesses, and community organizations. As a hyper-local resource stepping in where traditional newspapers have pulled back, we offer accessible, community-focused journalism that highlights the best of our area while keeping citizens informed about essential news and events, never behind a paywall.

MinnPost

MinnPost is an independent, nonprofit newsroom producing in-depth reporting on the most consequential civic and cultural affairs in Minnesota. MinnPost exposes problems, highlights solutions and inspires informed action. Its areas of greatest expertise include city and state politics, Minnesota’s congressional delegation in Washington, health, the environment and arts & culture.

The Colorado Sun

The Colorado Sun is a journalist-founded nonprofit newsroom with a mission that matters: Serving the people of Colorado with independent, community-centered journalism. We translate major topics in ways that make them relatable no matter where in Colorado the reader lives. Our core subjects include politics and policy, culture, the outdoors and the environment, education and the economy.

Wyoming Public Media

Wyoming Public Media is a statewide broadcaster that serves all of Wyoming. WPM is Wyoming's NPR affiliate. The news department has 10 full-time personnel, including the news director, managing editor, reporters for tribal/rural, energy/natural resources, state government, state roving, and podcast areas. WPM is a founding member of the Mountain West News Bureau/NPR regional network. The news department is an award-winning department with several regional Murrows to its credit.

Hearst Connecticut Media Group

HCMG is the state’s largest newsroom, with around 130 journalists covering breaking news, high school and UConn sports, politics and government, business, real estate and development, education, food and trending topics. We collaborate with Hearst’s DevHub on innovative data journalism.

Mission Local

Mission Local is a non-profit newsroom rooted in our mission: ground-up reporting that is free for all and produced by reporters and editors who reflect the city's diversity. Our street reporting model often leads to investigative pieces impacting everyone in the city.
