KBIA and the Missouri School of Journalism

KBIA News is an award-winning, innovative newsroom located in the university town of Columbia, on the campus of the Missouri School of Journalism. Reporters at KBIA News cover this dynamic Mid-Missouri community, coach and edit journalism students, and file reports and features to NPR and other national programs. KBIA News enjoys close collaborations with Harvest Public Media, Side Effects Public Media, and with innovative campus organizations such as the Reynolds Journalism Institute.

KUER 90.1 – NPR Utah

KUER, NPR Utah is intensely committed to building a community of world citizens through story and art, discussion and debate, sound and creativity. Our work is driven by our public service mission: KUER enhances the lives of its audience with a blend of news, information and entertainment in an unbiased, non-commercial context and creates an ongoing source of service and support vital to community organizations.

Miami Fourth Estate

Miami Fourth Estate is a nonprofit, nonpartisan hyperlocal news organization focused on bringing strong news coverage to Miami’s neighborhoods and 34 municipalities. Our mission is to make sure that residents of every town get the information they need about local government, the environment, business, education and other pressing community issues and solutions. We also believe in developing the next generation of journalists and are partners with local educational institutions.

Ocean State Media covers Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, focusing on local enterprise and investigative journalism. Our newsroom seeks to provide reporting that is focused more on depth than breaking news, offering analysis and perspective on stories we report as well as other news in the region.

Traverse City Record-Eagle

The Traverse City Record-Eagle is northern Michigan's largest news outlet, operating print and digital publications, including a daily print edition, a quarterly magazine and two podcasts. The Record-Eagle has a strong history of strong watchdog reporting complemented by artful narrative writing. Our newsroom is situated in downtown Traverse City, but serves a five-county core coverage area as well as broad, growing sections of news desert in northern Michigan.

WHQR Public Media

WHQR is a publicly funded nonprofit radio newsroom serving the Cape Fear Region of North Carolina. As WHQR's newsroom, we are dedicated to fair, in-depth, investigative journalism aimed at holding local government accountable. While our radio waves extend beyond the county we’re housed in, our coverage historically has not gone as far out into rural areas. We aim to change that, and bring our caliber of watchdog coverage to government agencies in surrounding counties.

Northern Public Radio – WNIJ

Northern Public Radio, a member station of NPR, has a mission to enrich, inspire and inform listeners in northern Illinois through programs and services that share ideas, encourage thought, entertain and create community.

Anna Pope

Anna Pope covers agriculture and rural communities for KOSU, an NPR affiliate in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Pope holds a bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism from Oklahoma State University, where she reported for the university’s paper and later became its news editor. Pope interned at KOSU public radio, and was a 2021 Community Fellow with the Inasmuch Foundation, a nonprofit with the goal of improving the quality of life for Oklahomans.

Bangor Daily News

A 132-year-old business owned by one family, the Bangor Daily News increasingly serves the entire state with an earlier shift to digital than most midsize papers. This news organization prizes strong journalism that serves readers, and the 127-person team is young, scrappy, and hungry to grow the BDN’s journalism, capacity and public service.

Bri Hatch

Bri Hatch covers education disparities in Baltimore, Maryland for WYPR 88.1, the local NPR station. Before joining the WYPR team, Hatch reported on college student well-being and diversity initiatives for The Chronicle of Higher Education, and rural Virginia education tensions for the Rockbridge Report. Hatch earned a Hearst feature writing award for their 2022 Chronicle of Higher Education story detailing the twisty journey of a donated 'Wizard of Oz' dress. Hatch served as the editor-in-chief of their college newspaper, The Ring-tum Phi, and investigated contentious Title IX policies and hazing allegations among a wide variety of other topics. They earned a degree from Washington and Lee University in journalism and American politics, with a minor in poverty and human capability studies. Outside of the newsroom, Hatch is an avid concert-lover, a longtime runner, and a cozy coffee shop enthusiast.
