The Investigative Project on Race and Equity focuses on exposing systemic racism by uncovering discriminatory practices and shining a light on abuses of power that drive racial and economic disparities. Through data and deep-dive investigations, the Project on Race and Equity tell stories that inform people about social issues — and build and analyze databases to bring systemic injustice into focus.

The Flatwater Free Press is Nebraska’s first independent, nonprofit newsroom focused on investigations and feature stories that matter. We were named the 2024 Startup of the Year by the Institute for Nonprofit News. We're published by the Nebraska Journalism Trust, a public charity with a mission to uncover truth, amplify diverse voices, and enrich life in Nebraska.

The Timberjay

The Timberjay a weekly newspaper in northern St. Louis County, serving the communities of Tower, Soudan, Cook, Orr, Ely, Babbitt, and surrounding townships. Published every Saturday with a circulation of about 3,500, the Timberjay serves as the official newspaper for the city of Tower and numerous area townships including Vermilion Lake, Bearville, Morcom, Leiding, Eagles Nest, Field, Embarrass, Kabetogama, and Kugler.

The AP is located in 100 countries and has journalists in all 50 states. More than half the world's population sees AP journalism every day.

Jefferson Public Radio

Jefferson Public Radio is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public media organization serving Southern Oregon and Northern California. JPR focuses on in-depth, fact-based journalism that helps spark meaningful community conversations. Through local and regional reporting, JPR keeps people informed and connected, especially in rural and remote areas, shedding light on the decisions and issues that shape daily life.

New Jersey Urban News

New Jersey Urban News is a BIPOC-led digital newsroom dedicated to informing and empowering Black and Brown communities across New Jersey. We deliver culturally grounded, community-centered reporting on environmental advocacy, government, health, education, business, civic engagement, and local issues often overlooked by traditional media. Through trustworthy journalism, strong community partnerships, and a mobile-first approach, we provide residents with the information they need to make informed decisions and stay connected to the issues that shape their lives.

The Florida Trib

The Tributary is a nonprofit, nonpartisan newsroom that serves Florida as a vital stream of journalism, holding those in power accountable and diving beneath the surface to tell stories that would otherwise go uncovered. Our mission is to strengthen the statewide and local news ecosystems by investigating entrenched problems and proposed solutions through using news in the public interest and community engagement.

The Woodford Sun Community Newspaper

Founded in 1869, The Woodford Sun, a 156-year-old institution, remains Woodford County’s only independent local news source. In this local news desert, the Sun provides essential, trustworthy, place-based reporting that reflects and connects residents across Versailles, Midway, and surrounding rural communities.

Johnson County Post

The Johnson County Post is the most trusted and turned-to source for consistent, reliable community coverage in Kansas’s biggest county. Our goal is to be the “user’s guide to Johnson County” — a resource available for anyone who wants to make sure they’re plugged in to what’s happening in the place they call home.

Ouray County Plaindealer

The Ouray County Plaindealer is a weekly newspaper in operation since 1877, making it one of the oldest newspapers in Colorado. It serves the rural mountains in the southwestern part of the state, in a county that would otherwise be a news desert. The Plaindealer's readership is engaged and supportive – they've donated to keep a Report for America corps member reporting here since 2020. The paper has a reputation for hard-hitting accountability journalism and punching above its weight. The newsroom has been recognized with numerous awards, including multiple honors for public service and investigative reporting, holding power to account and demanding transparency. The Plaindealer’s co-publishers, a couple who bought the newspaper in April 2019, are longtime Colorado journalists who left the largest newspaper in the western half of the state to purchase the weekly and invest in quality journalism. They believe that even small, rural places deserve quality reporting. They've kept reporting even when their work has attracted criticism and resulted in their newspapers being stolen, in response to a story about an alleged sex assault at a former police chief's home.
