MinnPost exposes problems, highlights solutions and inspires informed action. Its areas of greatest expertise include city and state politics, Minnesota’s congressional delegation in Washington, health, the environment and arts & culture.

The Current is a nonprofit news organization serving Lafayette and South Louisiana. We are part of the Deep South Today network of newsrooms. Founded in 2018 by local journalists, The Current‘s in-depth reporting connects Lafayette to stories that matter and helps readers understand how our community works — and how we can make it better.

Coconut Grove Spotlight

The Coconut Grove Spotlight is an independent nonprofit news organization that covers Coconut Grove, a historic community of approximately 20,000 residents within the City of Miami., as well as Miami City Hall, which is located in the village of Coconut Grove. The Spotlight is dedicated to providing public service journalism that serves the entire Coconut Grove community and that faithfully reflects the full diversity and interests of the community and its residents.

MEDIALEX Community Newsroom

MEDIALEX is a public platform for local voices to share stories that matter through community-created news, information, and entertainment. MEDIALEX provides local news & information in multiple languages through fact-based reporting by trusted members of the community. The organization's public interest/public health reporting model has been recognized as an effective example of community-centered, collaborative local journalism.

Daily Independent

Independent Newsmedia is a unique publishing and printing company that supports every American’s First Amendment rights and encourages and assists citizens in exercising those rights responsibly. We operate 21 newspapers in the Phoenix-area market and a website with more the 2.8 million annual users. We pursue this mission by publishing community newspapers, by providing printing services to other publishers, and by creating citizen-driven community websites for the 21st Century and beyond. Our unique structure is designed to maintain our independence. We pay taxes like any other company, but there are no shareholders, no dividends are paid, and all after-tax profits are reinvested in serving our mission. We are held in sacred trust by a rotating group of five trustees who believe in our mission and are pledged not to benefit personally from their involvement.

Mississippi Free Press

The Mississippi Free Press is a statewide nonprofit news organization founded in March 2020 to “publish deep public-interest reporting into causes of and solutions to the social, political and structural challenges facing all Mississippians and their communities.” Reporters produce what we call “systemic journalism,” which investigates the underlying racial, historic and current structures that create and sustain challenges such as poverty, health disparities and education inequities. The MFP centers people, connecting personal stories to larger systems and actions by the powerful. Reporters go beyond documenting problems to explore and interrogate solutions.

The Journal

The Journal is a growing nonprofit, nonpartisan news site published by the Kansas Leadership Center in Wichita, Kansas. It focuses on in-depth and solutions reporting about community issues. The full-time team includes an editor, staff reporter and an engagement manager. It works closely with experienced freelancers plus Wichita’s journalism collaborative and Documenters program. The Journal's reporting, particularly its investigative work, has won honors from the Institute for Nonprofit News and the Kansas Press Association.
