The Salt Lake Tribune

The Salt Lake Tribune was founded as an alternative voice in 1871. From air quality to cultural trends to analysis of the Utah Jazz, the news organization’s goal is to inform, enlighten and empower Utahns with news they can trust. The Salt Lake Tribune is Utah’s leader in accountability journalism and investigative reporting, consistently pushing for access, open records and transparency through requests, appeals, legislation and, when necessary, litigation.  

The Daily Herald

The Herald is one of 43 newspaper titles owned by Everett-based Sound Publishing, the largest community media organization in Washington state. We are the primary source of news and information for the communities we serve as well as the leading editorial voice. We are part of the greater Seattle metropolitan area. The fundamental philosophy that our founders committed themselves to from the first day they began publishing on Jan. 5, 1901 is still at the center of what we attempt to do every day: “There is in this community no one so poor or insignificant that The Herald will not defend him if he be wronged, no one so high and powerful that the Herald will not fearlessly attack him if he seek to do injustice.”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution covers the Atlanta metro area, along with state Government, the Legislature, and statewide issues. Staff includes 80 reporters, 23 editors and 49 additional staffers who produce news stories, video documentaries, investigative special projects, podcasts and other journalism. The newspaper is owned by Cox Enterprises, a family-owned company that has been in Atlanta since 1939.

The Wichita Beacon

The Wichita Beacon is a nonprofit, digital-only news outlet based Wichita, Kansas, launching in Summer 2021. Our mission: To spur reforms in the public interest by shining light on wrongdoings and abuse by government, businesses and other institutions in the region through in-depth, solutions-driven journalism. The Beacon’s sister newsroom in Kansas City was founded in April 2019 and began publishing in early 2020.

Technical.ly

Technical.ly is a major part of narrating economic change for the communities we serve. We’re interested in second and third tier regional economies. We've reported on each of our communities for five or more years, the longest being Philadelphia for a decade. Our reporters are trained to be deeply ingrained in the communities we serve, while also holding perspective from around other local economies. We are read by serious technologists, experienced entrepreneurs and economic development leaders who allocate resources among constituencies.

The Berkshire Eagle

The Berkshire Eagle covers 32 cities and towns in Berkshire County, Mass., and four New York communities near Pittsfield. Published daily since 1892, The Eagle focuses primarily on local, regional and statewide news.

Victorville Daily Press

This reporter is based at the weekly Desert Dispatch in Barstow, owned by Gannett. The California News Desert Initiative aims to promote content sharing among partners so residents in under-covered communities get the news they need.   

The Plug

Launched in 2016 as the first daily tech newsletter, The Plug investigates and reports on Black tech trends, stories, and breaking news.

Baltimore Afro-American

The Baltimore Afro-American newspaper is one of the oldest Black-owned newspapers in the country. For more than 128 years, it has been the town crier that sounded the alarm when needed in the Black community and the last voice at night that declared “all is well.” Today, The AFRO-American reports on a variety of issues affecting African-Americans. It has two publications — one in Washington, D.C. and the other in Baltimore.

Michigan Chronicle

The Michigan Chronicle is a news, information, and events company that has covered the interests of the African American community in Southeast Michigan with special focus on the city of Detroit since 1936. Leaders and readers in metropolitan Detroit look to the Michigan Chronicle to stay informed about issues that impact their lives. The Michigan Chronicle publishes daily content via michiganchronicle.com and a weekly print edition.
