Why Apply?
Salary Support
Most participating newsrooms will receive salary support on a declining scale: 50% in the first year, 33% in the second year, and 20% in an optional third year. Additional funding may be available for organizations with greater financial need, including the possibility of full salary support.
Sustainability Support
In addition to funding, participating newsrooms will receive hands-on coaching and resources to help strengthen their long-term financial sustainability, with a focus on growing subscriber and donor revenue. Report for America will also serve as a free fiscal sponsor for eligible for-profit news organizations seeking to accept tax-deductible donations.
Open to All WA Newsrooms
Newsrooms of all sizes and business models are encouraged to apply, regardless of whether they have previously participated in the WSU Murrow Fellows program or hosted a Report for America corps member. Newsrooms currently hosting a Report for America corps member may apply, though a WSU Murrow Fellows/Report for Washington reporter cannot begin until the corps member's term has concluded.
