Founded in 1885, the Dallas Morning News is Texas’ leading news organization and is the winner of nine Pulitzer Prizes. It has one of the largest newsrooms in the Southwest. In 2015, the DMN was in the first group of news organizations to go through a digital transformation initiative known as Table Stakes, launched by the Knight Foundation and Temple University. Since then, the DMN has been a leader in digital innovation among local news organizations. The News’ mission is “making our communities stronger and more prosperous through quality journalism and innovative marketing solutions.”

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is the largest daily newspaper in Hawaii, formed in 2010 with the merger of The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin after the acquisition of the former by Black Press, which already owned the latter.

Athens Banner-Herald

Athens Banner-Herald, the only daily paper in the region, and OnlineAthens are the primary news source for the area, which includes five counties and the University of Georgia community. The Tucson Sentinel is a nonprofit independent digital newsroom that informs southern Arizonans about the community challenges and unique culture of this area. It is the only locally-owned source for watchdog reporting. This award-winning newsroom serves readers in Tucson and rural stretches of Pima County, along with the other border counties of Santa Cruz and Cochise.

The Times-Picayune and The Advocate

The Advocate is Louisiana’s largest daily newspaper, serving the cities of Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, and their surrounding regions. The Advocate is committed to providing comprehensive coverage of local news, City Hall, the state house, politics, business, environment and other areas of general interest for our readers, in print and online. The Associated Press

The Associated Press is a global news agency that began 172 years ago as a cooperative of five New York City newspapers. With 263 locations in more than 100 countries, AP provides journalism to roughly 15,000 media outlets around the world. AP sets standards for ethics and excellence, and has won 52 Pulitzer Prizes, including the 2016 gold medal for Public Service for an investigation into labor abuses in the seafood industry, reports that freed more than 2,000 slaves. AP’s seven news bureaus in the northeast U.S. provide vital local and regional news to 378 newsrooms.

Chattanooga Times Free Press

The Chattanooga Times Free Press is a daily, mid-sized paper serving Chattanooga, Tennessee, and 16 surrounding counties that spill into Georgia and Alabama. It is the only daily newspaper between the suburbs of Nashville and Atlanta, which are each two hours in different directions. The newspaper has two editorial pages, the liberal Times page and the conservative Free Press page, which honor the legacies of the papers the preceded the Times Free Press. In many ways, the two editorial pages reflect the coverage area and the nation’s rural-urban divide: Blue Chattanooga is surrounded by deep red rural communities.
