WUSF Public Media

WUSF Public Media is committed to providing accurate, honest journalism that helps listeners understand the community and the world. WUSF is a service of the University of South Florida, providing news and music on two radio stations, seven websites and on social media. Since 1976, it’s been the flagship NPR affiliate, and covers 13 counties in west central Florida, including the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland and Sarasota.

The New York Amsterdam News

The New York Amsterdam News was started in 1909 with a yearning to tell the stories of people of color in New York City, and has grown to become one of the most important Black newspapers in the country. It reported on the fight for equality during the Jim Crow era and the civil rights movement, and with a weekly paper and a robust news site, averaging 500,000 unique visitors a month, The New York Amsterdam News works to continue to magnify the issues that most deeply affect communities of color.

AL.com

AL.com is the largest news site in Alabama, and part of the Alabama Media Group. The site has a statewide focus and grew out of the 2012 online combination of the Mobile Press-Register, The Birmingham News and The Huntsville Times, which remain news sources for print readers in those communities. AL.com operates hubs in those three cities, and has 75 reporters, editors, digital producers and videographers based throughout the state.

The Connecticut Mirror

The Connecticut Mirror is a nonprofit digital news site with a mission to produce original, in-depth, nonpartisan journalism that informs residents about the impact of public policy, holds government accountable and amplifies diverse voices and perspectives. The goal is a stronger democracy in which all residents can more effectively participate in the development of public policy and hold government accountable for understanding and addressing the needs of the people.

Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper

The Indianapolis Recorder is a news site and a weekly paper, published for 126 years. This news organization serves the Black community of Indianapolis, and aims to educate, engage and empower readers so they can thrive.

Nebraska Public Media

Nebraska Public Media is a statewide news organization with distribution across TV, radio, web and social media, combining local content with programming from PBS and NPR. Nebraska Public Media aims to connect and engage its audience, educate and amplify diverse voices.The award-winning news department produces TV and radio documentaries, public affairs discussion programs, and daily radio news stories on important state issues.

Baltimore Afro-American

The Baltimore Afro-American is a news service, founded in 1892, that writes and reports news for and about African Americans. Staffers' reporting appears on the news site, in the weekly paper, and on social media platforms. The reporting includes a type of advocacy journalism that goes beyond reporting facts, and lends itself to how the news affects African Americans and their communities.

The Triangle Tribune

The Triangle Tribune, founded in 1998, serves Black communities in Raleigh and Durham, two of North Carolina's largest cities. Its news site and weekly paper focus on hyperlocal journalism.

WYPR 88.1 FM

WYPR is Baltimore's NPR news station and has served the community for nearly 20 years. WYPR is committed to covering a diverse community. Its mission is to inform, connect and even challenge listeners in the metro area, and across the state via signals in Frederick and Ocean City, Maryland, by broadcasting programs of intellectual integrity and cultural merit. In 2021, it won several of the industry's highest journalism awards.

The Spokesman-Review

For nearly 140 years, The Spokesman-Review has been a leading voice of the inland Northwest, a region centered in Spokane and home to more than 730,000 people in eastern Washington and north Idaho. The region's largest daily and family-owned, it delivers accurate and balanced news reports, data, analyses and commentaries. While its primary focus is Spokane County, this news organization also reports on surrounding rural counties and the five counties of the north Idaho Panhandle.
