Silicon Prairie connects the entrepreneurial ecosystem through storytelling and events.

Underscore Native News

Underscore Native News produces Indigenous-centered journalism that illuminates the intersections of sovereignty and justice and portrays the rich diversity of Native communities in the Pacific Northwest. We aim to produce thoughtful, revelatory stories that might otherwise go unreported and unheard, focusing exclusively on tribal communities and the issues that impact them. Through this work, we seek to forge a more equitable media ecosystem, strengthen democracy and improve diversity and representation in journalism.

Baltimore Beat

Baltimore Beat is a Black-led, nonprofit newspaper dedicated to serving Baltimore's diverse communities with in-depth, community-focused journalism. Through initiatives like Beat Boxes and comprehensive election coverage, it engages youth voters, amplifies underrepresented voices, and tackles issues like police reform and social justice. With community outreach and impactful storytelling, it's committed to providing journalism that drives civic engagement and inspires change.

Evanston RoundTable

Founded in 1988, the Evanston RoundTable is a hyperlocal nonprofit newsroom covering city government, education, arts and culture in Evanston, Illinois. Our mission is to provide fair and accurate reporting on issues that impact the everyday lives of Evanstonians, from the zoning code to the new restaurant down the street, with the goal of fostering civic engagement across our town.

Mission Local

Mission Local is more than a neighborhood news site. This nonprofit news organization, based in San Francisco’s Mission District, reports on the city’s most pressing issues: police reform, housing, homelessness and education. Mission Local focuses on producing trustworthy journalism, and stories are published in English and Spanish.

South Dakota News Watch

South Dakota News Watch is an independent, nonprofit organization that tells in-depth stories explaining complex topics and use scientific polls and public forums to explore what’s on the minds of South Dakotans. Its mission is to produce investigative and public service journalism that sheds light on the issues, concerns and welfare of South Dakotans.

Uvalde Leader-News

The Uvalde Leader-News is a semi-weekly, locally-owned newspaper that traces its beginnings to 1879. The newspaper's primary coverage area is Uvalde County (population 27,000), which includes the city of Uvalde with 17,000 residents. Virtually all of our content, which includes extensive coverage of local governmental bodies, is produced by our five-person newsroom staff.

Bangor Daily News

A 135-year-old business owned by one family, the Bangor Daily News increasingly serves the entire state of Maine with an earlier shift to digital than most midsize papers. This news organization prizes strong journalism that serves readers and connects communities.

Mississippi Free Press

The mission of the Mississippi Free Press, a nonprofit statewide newsroom, is to publish deep public-interest reporting into causes of and solutions to the social, political, and systemic challenges facing all Mississippians and their communities. We interrogate and report the systems that cause inequities on the road to lasting solutions through a mixture of narrative storytelling, data reporting, historic context and community dialogue through solution circles in under-reported communities to discover report causes and roots of inequities, followed by solutions journalism.

Started in 1904, the Southeast Missourian, founded in 1904, is a family-owned, community newspaper focused on hyper-local news, features and sports coverage.
