The Adirondack Explorer was founded in 1998 as a watchdog for the Adirondack Park region of Northern New York. The Park is a blend of private and public lands, with 103 towns and villages. The Explorer focuses on environmental and economic issues and the sustainability of this public park/community model. North Country Public Radio is an NPR member station founded in 1968 serving northern New York and Vermont, including the Adirondack Park. NCPR is a rural news service that seeks to tell the stories and improve the lives of people who are often overlooked by other news outlets.

The Louisiana Illuminator is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization driven by its mission to cast light on how decisions are made in Baton Rouge and how they affect the lives of everyday Louisianians, particularly those who are poor or otherwise marginalized. Here readers will find in-depth investigations and news stories, news briefs and commentary, all of which is intended to help them make sense of how state policy is crafted, how it helps or hurts them and how it helps or hurts their neighbors across the state.

The Detroit Free Press primarily covers three counties in southeast Michigan, including robust coverage of the city of Detroit. Founded in 1831, it’s the oldest business in Detroit. The Detroit Free Press has earned 10 Pulitzer Prizes in its history, including one for exposing lies and corruption in the administration of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Eric Guzmán

Eric Guzmán covers the youth sports culture in Detroit for the Detroit Free Press. Prior to joining the Free Press newsroom, Guzmán did freelance work with El Central Hispanic Newspaper, covering the events and happenings in the Southwest Detroit Community. He's also done work in the podcast space covering sports, music and pop culture. Guzmán earned his Bachelor's in Journalism from The University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2019 and has strong ambitions on achieving a fruitful career in multimedia.

Cleo Krejci

Cleo Krejci covers workforce development and manufacturing in Wisconsin for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She developed her love for accountability reporting after uncovering dangerous building code violations at a student housing complex as a sophomore at the University of Minnesota. She continued working for her student paper, the Minnesota Daily, until graduation in May 2020, including as editor-in-chief of the 70-person newsroom during senior year. That summer Krejci left her hometown of Minneapolis to spend 10 weeks covering national politics for the Arizona Republic via the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship. From Arizona she moved to Iowa, where she spent two years covering K-12 and higher education for the Iowa City Press-Citizen and Des Moines Register. In summer 2022 she got a full-time job as an unskilled caregiver in a memory care unit, trusting it would serve as fodder for a later project about U.S. elder care.
