The Connecticut Mirror

The Connecticut Mirror is a nonprofit digital news site with a mission to produce original, in-depth, nonpartisan journalism that informs residents about the impact of public policy, holds government accountable and amplifies diverse voices and perspectives. The goal is a stronger democracy in which all residents can more effectively participate in the development of public policy and hold government accountable for understanding and addressing the needs of the people.

New Haven Independent

The New Haven Independent is a nonprofit news site, and features reporting on New Haven neighborhoods, government, politics, criminal justice, schools, business, arts and culture. It is produced in conjunction with the Online Journalism Project, a nonprofit effort to promote stand-alone and hyperlocal news sites.

WSHU Public Radio

WSHU is an NPR member station, serving Connecticut and Long Island, New York since 1984, and owned and operated by Sacred Heart University. WSHU's mission is to be the unifying voice of the region: on the air, online and in person. It won the 2021 National Student Murrow Award for its series on the history of slavery on Long Island.

Nora Grace-Flood

Nora Grace-Flood reports on government accountability, public policy and neighborhoods in Hamden, Connecticut for the New Haven Independent, a nonprofit, public-interest news organization based in New Haven, Connecticut. Before becoming a Report for America corps team member, Grace-Flood interned with the New Haven Independent and its partner publication, the Valley Independent Sentinel, reporting on a variety of stories. She graduated from Bard College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and public health in 2021, and studied journalism and interned as an editorial assistant at PEN America, a nonprofit that works to protect free expression in the U.S. and worldwide, as part of the Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program in New York City. Nora lives in New Haven, CT.

Camila Vallejo

Camila Vallejo reports for Connecticut Public Radio in Hartford, Connecticut, where she focuses on housing disparities in Fairfield County. She got her start in radio as an intern for that station, later becoming a producer for All Things Considered. Prior to radio, Vallejo freelanced for Hearst Connecticut Media, a network of newspapers and websites, the Record-Journal, and the Connecticut Health Investigative Team, a nonprofit web-based news service. As an intern for the Hartford Courant, a daily paper, she kept readers informed about local entertainment, food news, and more. Vallejo graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in journalism and communications. She grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut.

New Haven Independent

The New Haven Independent is a daily nonprofit, public-interest local news organization begun in 2005. It is produced in conjunction with the Online Journalism Project, a not-for-profit effort to promote stand-alone and hyperlocal news sites. It primarily features reporting on New Haven neighborhoods, government, politics, criminal justice, schools, business, arts and culture. It links readers to other websites with information about New Haven.

Connecticut Public (WNPR)

Connecticut Public Radio is a network of public radio stations that serve Connecticut, western Massachusetts, and eastern Long Island. It is owned by the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network, which also owns Connecticut Public Television, and is affiliated with National Public Radio. Its mission is to inform, educate and inspire the people of Connecticut, connecting and empowering them through outstanding journalism, storytelling, education and experiences.

The Connecticut Mirror

The Connecticut Mirror is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news outlet with a very clear mission: Produce deep reporting on government policies and politics, to become an invaluable resource for anyone who lives, works or cares about Connecticut, and to hold our policymakers accountable for their decisions and actions. The Mirror’s staff consists of award-winning editors and reporters with decades of experience in Connecticut newsrooms or working for other national or state news operations.

Adria Watson

Adria Watson covers education for The Connecticut Mirror. Watson graduated from California State University, Sacramento in May 2020, where she studied journalism. She interned at The Marshall Project and CalMatters, and has covered a range of topics including criminal justice and the needs of student parents. At Sac State, she worked on the award-winning student publication The State Hornet and published work in The Sacramento Bee. Watson got her start in journalism while attending community college in the Bay Area. As a student at Los Medanos College, she was the managing editor and editor-in-chief for the student-run publication the Experience. Watson proudly grew up in Oakland, California. 

Yehyun Kim

Yehyun Kim is a photojournalist for The Connecticut Mirror capturing the full breadth of experience in the Constitution State. Kim has had internships with the Victoria Advocate, USA Today and Acadia National Park. She has a journalism degree from the University of Missouri/Columbia. Kim was born and raised in South Korea and studied photojournalism at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. She participated in the Eddie Adams Workshop and has a degree from Dongduk Women’s University in South Korea. She won the 74th College Photographer Of The Year Award of Excellence in General News.
