Sahan Journal

Established in 2019, Sahan Journal's mission is to provide fair, groundbreaking coverage that illuminates issues affecting Minnesota immigrants and communities of color, and to chronicle how these communities are changing and redefining what it means to be a Minnesotan. We are expanding our audiences by partnering with ethnic news media in the state as well as two of the largest legacy newsrooms in Minnesota.

Central Florida Public Media provides Central Florida with journalism and fact-based content that empower the community to better understand and participate in our diverse and complex world. We serve Central Floridians who seek unbiased, factual, truthful information and nuanced discussion — people who share a common curiosity and concern about the complex issues and challenges facing our community, nation, and world.

Enlace Latino NC

Enlace Latino NC is a nonprofit digital news organization. Its mission is to empower the diverse community of Latino immigrants in North Carolina to become more involved in the political and social changes that affect them, by publishing independent, nonpartisan, public service journalism in Spanish.

The Acadiana Advocate

The Advocate is Louisiana's largest daily newspaper, serving the cities of Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette with an average daily circulation of just under 100,000 and an online audience of 20 million page views per month. In 2019, the Lafayette staff was expanded, doubling in size, to reflect the company’s commitment to local journalism in South Louisiana. Our newsroom covers the parishes of Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia, Vermilion, Acadia and Evangeline.

WMUK-FM

WMUK is southwest Michigan's only locally-owned public radio service. Based in Kalamazoo, we serve the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek metro area as well as the Lake Michigan shoreline, fruit belt and south-central communities of our region. Our mission is to tell stories that engage listeners across our coverage area and beyond. We look past the crime blotter for news we haven't seen anyone else report and turn it into sound-rich features and fresh newscast spots.

Houston Defender Network

The Houston Defender was founded in October 1930 and serves the Houston area which includes Harris, Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. As Houston’s leading Black information source, the Defender continues to provide the community with news, sports, lifestyle, business, politics and more.

The Baltimore Banner

The Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism is a nonprofit organization founded in the summer of 2021 to bring high-quality local news to the Baltimore metro area. The news landscape has witnessed fundamental transformations resulting in a dramatic loss of capacity in local news. In June 2022, it launched The Baltimore Banner with a mission to be an indispensable resource that strengthens, unites and inspires our communities. We will accomplish this through trustworthy quality journalism that tells the varied stories of our people, holds our leaders accountable, and delivers local news that readers are willing to support.

InvestigateWest

InvestigateWest is a nonprofit news organization founded in 2009 that is dedicated to change-making investigative journalism for the Pacific Northwest. The Northwest-based newsroom covers a range of topics including the environment and climate change, health inequities, social justice, voting rights and government accountability. Our reporting appears on our website and is regularly republished by 15 news outlets across Washington, Oregon and Idaho. We also frequently partner with national publications including The Washington Post, The Atlantic and The Guardian.

The Dallas Morning News

Founded in 1885, the Dallas Morning News is Texas’ leading news organization and is the winner of nine Pulitzer Prizes. It has one of the largest newsrooms in the Southwest. In 2015, the DMN was in the first group of news organizations to go through a digital transformation initiative known as Table Stakes, launched by the Knight Foundation and Temple University. Since then, the DMN has been a leader in digital innovation among local news organizations. The News’ mission is “making our communities stronger and more prosperous through quality journalism and innovative marketing solutions.”

Iowa Capital Dispatch

The Iowa Capital Dispatch is a hard-hitting, independent news organization dedicated to connecting Iowans to their state government and its impact on their lives. The Capital Dispatch combines state government coverage with relentless investigative journalism, deep dives into the consequences of policy, political insight, and principled commentary. The Iowa Capital Dispatch is part of States Newsroom, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by grants and a coalition of donors and readers. It retains full editorial independence.
