San Francisco Public Press

Founded in 2009, the San Francisco Public Press is a nonprofit, noncommercial news organization publishing and broadcasting independent public-interest journalism about under-covered topics, focusing on under-served audiences. We offer local investigative and solutions reporting at sfpublicpress.org and via “Civic,” a public affairs podcast also airing on KSFP 102.5 FM, our low-power community radio station. Coverage includes homelessness, housing affordability, public health, sea level rise, environmental equity, transportation safety, digital privacy, immigration and elections.

Austin Free Press

Austin Free Press is a non-profit, digital news platform, who seeks input from community members to guide content. Before publishing we partnered with our local historically Black university, Huston-Tillotson, to train underrepresented students as journalists and to write for AFP. Our goal is to increase accuracy in news reporting by centering our coverage on underserved communities and issues, and promote civil dialogue to empower all Austinites to make more informed decisions about our community.

The Richmonder

The Richmonder serves the Richmond, Virginia area by spotlighting the best of the community, and keeping a watchful eye on those in power. We believe in making news that is reflective of the fullness of the city, and is freely accessible to all.

Bucks County Beacon

The Bucks County Beacon is an independent media outlet producing fearless, fact-based journalism. We are committed to reporting the stories that other local media outlets can’t or don’t cover, especially the growing threat of extremism and disinformation to our schools, government, and democracy. We are building a sustainable, reader-supported news organization to fill the local information gap, rooted in transparency and community accountability. Our mission is to strengthen our communities, increase civic engagement, and empower residents to make informed decisions. We are focused on providing the resources, like our local voter guides, that create a more informed electorate. We also believe in highlighting the community members who live and work here, publishing diverse local writers and activists. We believe this work fosters a community where every resident is informed, engaged, and empowered to shape its future.

The Timberjay

The Timberjay a weekly newspaper in northern St. Louis County, serving the communities of Tower, Soudan, Cook, Orr, Ely, Babbitt, and surrounding townships. Published every Saturday with a circulation of about 3,500, the Timberjay serves as the official newspaper for the city of Tower and numerous area townships including Vermilion Lake, Bearville, Morcom, Leiding, Eagles Nest, Field, Embarrass, Kabetogama, and Kugler.

CivicLex

CivicLex is a nonprofit organization working to strengthen civic health in Lexington by helping our community understand and get involved in local issues, connect with their neighbors, and have a say in decision making.

The Florida Trib

The Tributary is a nonprofit, nonpartisan newsroom that serves Florida as a vital stream of journalism, holding those in power accountable and diving beneath the surface to tell stories that would otherwise go uncovered. Our mission is to strengthen the statewide and local news ecosystems by investigating entrenched problems and proposed solutions through using news in the public interest and community engagement.

Coconut Grove Spotlight

The Coconut Grove Spotlight is an independent nonprofit news organization that covers Coconut Grove, a historic community of approximately 20,000 residents within the City of Miami., as well as Miami City Hall, which is located in the village of Coconut Grove. The Spotlight is dedicated to providing public service journalism that serves the entire Coconut Grove community and that faithfully reflects the full diversity and interests of the community and its residents.

Uvalde Leader-News

The Uvalde Leader-News is a locally-owned newspaper covering Uvalde County, Texas, as the region's primary public information source. Empowered by the freedom and responsibility of the First Amendment, we insist that our reporting be impartial regardless of party, sect, or special interests. We strive to produce reporting that is inclusive, objective, and accurate. We provide a forum for readers to express their opinions through letters to the editor and guest columns.

Investigative Project on Race and Equity

The Investigative Project on Race and Equity focuses on exposing systemic racism by uncovering discriminatory practices and shining a light on abuses of power that drive racial and economic disparities. Through data and deep-dive investigations, the Project on Race and Equity tell stories that inform people about social issues — and build and analyze databases to bring systemic injustice into focus.
