Underscore Native News

Underscore Native News produces Indigenous-centered journalism that illuminates the intersections of sovereignty and justice and portrays the rich diversity of Native communities in the Pacific Northwest. We aim to produce thoughtful, revelatory stories that might otherwise go unreported and unheard, focusing exclusively on tribal communities and the issues that impact them. Through this work, we seek to forge a more equitable media ecosystem, strengthen democracy and improve diversity and representation in journalism.

Voice of San Diego

Voice of San Diego has been a pioneering investigative, nonprofit news organization since 2005. Our mission is to provide investigative journalism for a better San Diego. Our writers have the freedom and responsibility to tackle the biggest issues in the region. We believe San Diego is strong enough to face its most uncomfortable and intractable problems. But we also seek to educate, enlighten and entertain readers who care about San Diego's future and want an excellent and just government. Voice of San Diego has a unique approach to local journalism. We encourage conversational, engaging writing. We believe complexity is a form of elitism and that journalists are educators to help residents understand their communities, public policy discussions, plans and finances.

Gulf Coast Media

Gulf Coast Media publishes four newspapers in coastal Baldwin County, Alabama. Three are more than 100 years old. GCM is in Alabama’s fastest-growing county, where beaches attract tourists by the millions. Evolution is innate at GCM. Our print and digital products, harnessed with hyper-local reporting, aim to strengthen bonds at a grassroots level. Helping people – multi-generational residents, newcomers and visitors – feel connected to their home or haven through informative, thoughtful and fun storytelling leads the reins.

InvestigateWest

As a nonprofit, collaborative newsroom, InvestigateWest’s mission is to produce investigative journalism that holds power accountable, exposes injustice and empowers communities across the Northwest. Over the years, our work has generated significant impact, including a dozen new state laws to protect workers, the environment and vulnerable children. Our reporting is regularly republished by dozens of outlets across the region. We also frequently partner with national publications including The Washington Post, The Atlantic and The Guardian.

Marietta Daily Journal

The Marietta Daily Journal reports the news aggressively, but with candor, discretion and fairness. MDJ serves Cobb County by providing a quality local newspaper and website comprehensive enough to be the only media our readers need while exclusive enough to be essential, even to readers who choose additional news sources. The first Marietta Journal was printed in 1866 on a hand press left behind by Union Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman’s army after the city was burned. The publisher wrote that he “summoned courage” to start the paper “when Marietta was a heap of ashes and a charred mass of ruins.”
