Louisiana Illuminator

The Louisiana Illuminator is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization driven by its mission to cast light on how decisions are made in Baton Rouge and how they affect the lives of everyday Louisianians, particularly those who are poor or otherwise marginalized. Here readers will find in-depth investigations and news stories, news briefs and commentary, all of which is intended to help them make sense of how state policy is crafted, how it helps or hurts them and how it helps or hurts their neighbors across the state.

Longview News-Journal

The Longview News-Journal is part of third-generation, family-owned community newspaper and multimedia news organization. We are committed to digital-first community journalism—not just reporting the news, but also holding officials accountable for their actions. We work to keep the public informed of the news through our print and digital platforms. We strive to be fair, accurate and respectful while reporting the news, from hard-hitting investigations to the daily news and features. Our goal is to use all available journalism tools in the service of reporting on, and bettering, our community.

The New York Amsterdam News

The New York Amsterdam News was started in 1909 with a yearning to tell the stories of people of color in New York City, and has grown to become one of the most important Black newspapers in the country. It reported on the fight for equality during the Jim Crow era and the civil rights movement, and with a weekly paper and a robust news site, averaging 500,000 unique visitors a month, The New York Amsterdam News works to continue to magnify the issues that most deeply affect communities of color.

The Dallas Morning News

Founded in 1885, the Dallas Morning News is Texas’ leading news organization and is the winner of nine Pulitzer Prizes. It has one of the largest newsrooms in the Southwest. In 2015, the DMN was in the first group of news organizations to go through a digital transformation initiative known as Table Stakes, launched by the Knight Foundation and Temple University. Since then, the DMN has been a leader in digital innovation among local news organizations. The News’ mission is “making our communities stronger and more prosperous through quality journalism and innovative marketing solutions.”

The Land

The Land was created in 2020 to report on Cleveland’s neighborhoods, economy and local government, delivering in-depth stories that foster accountability, inform the community, and inspire people to take action. This nonprofit started with a free website and a newsletter, and today it has built a diverse board, fostered community partnerships, welcomed thousands of subscribers, created an internship program and reporting fellowship for journalists of color, and published hundreds of stories.

The Texas Tribune

The Texas Tribune is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, digital-first news organization that informs and engages with Texans on public policy, politics, government and statewide issues. This news organization's site provides vital information and news to millions of Texans for free, and its journalism is distributed through more than 60 statewide media partners to local outlets. Partnerships with platforms including ProPublica, Apple News, and SmartNews put its content before a nationwide audience.

The Tributary

The Tributary is a nonprofit newsroom focused on data-driven investigative reporting about entrenched problems like poverty, injustice and policy—critically important issues that have gone unsolved in Northeast Florida. Based in Jacksonville, The Tributary works to strengthen the area's news ecosystem, collaborating with existing outlets and working to engage the city's diverse communities to improve equity in access to, and demand for, responsive local news.

WFIU/WTIU News – Indiana Public Media

WFIU/WTIU News is the NPR/PBS affiliate covering southern and central Indiana. Our radio and television newsrooms were among the first public operations to converge in 2010, reporting across platforms for radio, television and digital. Each day we produce 10 radio newscasts, two television newsbreaks, and a daily e-newsletter, plus weekly shows, features and a robust news website that serves our region with local news. Our team provides young journalists with excellent editorial support and mentoring.

Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting

The Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting is the state’s only independent, nonpartisan and collaborative nonprofit newsroom dedicated to statewide, data-driven investigative reporting. AZCIR's mission is to hold powerful people and institutions accountable by exposing injustice and systemic inequities through investigative journalism.

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is a statewide family owned news organization based in Little Rock, the state Capitol. We have a strong commitment to providing unbiased, in-depth articles to readers of both our digital replica editions and our website. We believe in using the Freedom of Information Act to get the information that tells readers how their government is run. Media in Arkansas will have much to do with a new governor taking office.
