Compared to most daily newspapers, The Sun News is relatively young, founded in 1961. But we’re deeply rooted in Myrtle Beach and the Horry County area. We are the only daily newspaper on the Grand Strand.

MLK50: Justice Through Journalism is an award-winning nonprofit digital newsroom based in Memphis and focused on the intersection of poverty, power and policy.
Launched in April 2017 during the run-up to the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, we frame the news from the perspective of the people King would have been aligned with had he not been assassinated.
Through our three-year partnership with ProPublica, MLK50’s RFA fellows will have access to ProPublica training and may have the opportunity to collaborate on stories co-published with the national investigative reporting outlet.

Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service (NNS) is an award-winning, online news outlet that provides balanced coverage of low-income minority neighborhoods in Milwaukee's central city through objective, professional reporting. We cover the issues most important to the people who live, work and serve in central-city Milwaukee, such as public safety, arts and recreation, economic development, education, health and wellness and housing.
The Mendocino Voice
The Mendocino Voice, founded in 2016, is an online, independent, worker owned, general interest news service with an emphasis on breaking news, government reporting, and community events. We publish multiple times daily on our website and across social platforms. Rural Mendocino County, in northern California, has become a news desert, and our goal is to go beyond merely restoring the old status quo, by providing coverage to communities that were left out even before the collapse of the news industry. We are transitioning to a worker-reader co-op with funding from Facebook Community Journalism Project/Lenfest Institute.
Long Beach Post
Long Beach Post is a daily, digital publication covering news, life, business, placemaking, food, sports, LGBT issues and more in the city of Long Beach, California. We became the largest newsroom in the city last summer when a handful of journalists from the city's legacy newspaper resigned amid an onslaught of layoffs and cutbacks at their publication and joined the Post.
Las Vegas Review-Journal
The Las Vegas Review-Journal is the dominant news organization in Southern Nevada. We cover the state of Nevada as well as major news in eastern California, southern Utah and northwest Arizona. Our mission is to tell the most important stories in Las Vegas, to hold institutions and leaders accountable, and to fight for the public's right to know.
Las Cruces Sun-News
The Las Cruces Sun-News is the largest of seven Gannett newspapers in New Mexico. We facilitate news coverage as a network, which is important because we plan to use this position to report from all seven sites. As a network, we publish four daily newspapers and three twice-weekly newspapers.
Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting
The Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting is a nonprofit, nonpartisan newsroom based in Louisville with coverage focused statewide. Our mission is to protect society’s most vulnerable citizens, expose wrongdoing in the public and private sectors, increase transparency in government and hold leaders accountable.
KyCIR is the creation of the nonprofit Louisville Public Media, which announced KyCIR’s formation in spring 2013. We are a part of the WFPL newsroom, an NPR affiliate.
KCAW
KCAW serves Sitka and seven other communities, from Yakutat to Port Alexander — roughly the same distance between Washington, DC, and Columbus, Ohio. However, for those communities outside of Sitka, there is no other media source, and limited and unreliable internet. KCAW is the sole source of information about everything: from weather and tsunami warnings, to presidential elections.
KAWC Colorado River Public Media
KAWC Colorado River Public Media is a news service for western and southwestern Arizona licensed to Arizona Western College. Based in Yuma, Arizona, KAWC is one of very few public radio stations located along the U.S.-Mexico border. Our small staff attempts to cover stories in Yuma, Somerton, Parker, and San Luis, Arizona as well as San Luis, Rio Colorado, Mexico, in a geographic territory slightly larger than the entire state of Maryland.
