Trisha Ahmed

Trisha Ahmed is a Statehouse reporter in Minnesota for The Associated Press. Ahmed recently completed her master’s degree in journalism at the University of Maryland, where she also worked as an investigative and data reporter at the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism. She was part of a team that won an award from Investigative Reporters & Editors, along with the Innovator of the Year Award from the News Leaders Association, for uncovering how newspapers contributed to racial terror lynchings in the United States. Ahmed has worked at CNN as a digital production assistant, and before that, she was a field interviewer for poverty and inequality research labs in Maryland and California. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and social policy from Johns Hopkins University.

Vicki Adame

Vicki Adame is a bilingual reporter covering Minnesota’s Latino communities for Minnesota Public Radio, which is based in St. Paul. An award-winning multimedia journalist, Adame has focused on the lives of immigrants and communities of color, especially Latino communities in California and Washington state. Most recently, her work has appeared in Palabra, Latino Rebels, Latino USA, CTLatinoNews, among others, and she has translated articles for El Salvador’s El Faro. Adame holds a master’s degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York. Her reporting on communities of color in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state earned her two consecutive C.B. Blethen Memorial Awards for Distinguished Coverage of Diversity. Her hometown is Merced, California.

MPR News

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is an acclaimed regional and national provider of news and cultural programming that serves nearly all of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Michigan, Iowa, and Canada. MPR News provides daily reporting, analysis, conversation and debate. It has a large central newsroom in St. Paul as well as regional bureaus staffed by full-time reporters who live and work in strategic locations to ensure full coverage of the state.

Jaida Grey Eagle

Jaida Grey Eagle reports for Sahan Journal, a news site in Minnesota’s capital, St. Paul, which focuses on immigrant communities. In her work as a photojournalist for Sahan, Grey Eagle covers Hmong, Somali and Latino communities. She is Oglala Lakota, and was born in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Grey Eagle is a photographer, producer, beadwork artist and writer. Her photography has been published in numerous publications such as Native People’s Magazine, Indian Country Today, Briarpatch, Vogue and Tribal College Journal. She is a co-producer on the Sisters Rising Documentary, which is the story of six Native American women reclaiming personal and tribal sovereignty in the face of ongoing sexual violence against Indigenous women in the United States and has recently received an Honorable Mention at the Big Sky Doc Festival. She received formal training in photography at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and holds her Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in photography.

Zoë Jackson

Zoë Jackson reports for the StarTribune in Minnesota where she focuses on younger voters and politics. Prior to this she was the metro reporting intern at the StarTribune, where she covered a range of issues including suburban politics. She covered water crisis recovery as an intern at The Flint Journal in Flint, Michigan, and has reported stories for Kalamazoo, Michigan  NPR affiliate WMUK 102.1. She was the news editor of the Western Herald, the student-run newspaper at Western Michigan University. Her work as a student journalist has been honored by the National Association of Black Journalists and the Detroit chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists.

Mohamed Ibrahim

Mohamed Ibrahim covers the Minnesota Legislature for The Associated Press where he concentrates on energy and environmental policy. He has worked as an intern at Minnesota Public Radio News, and at the Star Tribune covering St. Paul, Minn. and its surrounding areas. He was a reporter for the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities’s student-run newspaper, the Minnesota Daily, where he covered public safety, city government and the Minnesota Legislature. Born in San Diego, Ibrahim is the child of Somali immigrants and was raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis. He earned his B.A. from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in December 2019.

Kyeland Jackson

Kyeland Jackson covers a number of issues for Twin Cities Public Television in St. Paul, Minnesota, including the causes and effects of racial disparities. He holds bachelor’s and graduate degrees in communications from the University of Louisville and has won awards from the Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters as well as the Louisville Society of Professional Journalists. Jackson was also selected for the Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporter’s Data Institute. Raised in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Jackson was also the editor-in-chief of The Louisville Cardinal, a weekly independent newspaper at his alma mater.
